#22 Cap d’Antibes

One of the things I enjoyed most during our time in France was the coastal path around Cap D’Antibes. The coast is quite wild in places but the path is easy to follow, and while you might assume the area is just full of resorts and villas, they are mostly hidden by trees so it feels much more remote than it actually is.

Antibes itself is a historic town that’s exactly how I imagine the French riviera, but we were here for the walks and the sea. It’s a short drive (or taxi) from Antibes town to the starting point of the coastal walk at Plage de la Garoupe, then a two to four hour walk along the coast depending on where you decide to stop and head back inland. There are lots of little beaches along the way, some private and some public, and the landscape changes from rugged, bare rocks to countless pines as you approach the west side of the cape. While we saw a few others on the path, it was mostly quiet and secluded. All in all, a wonderfully peaceful way to spend a day on holiday.
