#21 Monaco
I’m not quite sure where to start with Monaco - it’s a somewhat surreal place, with yachts bigger than most of my friends’ London flats and flashy cars winding through the tiny streets, and a level of performative wealth I haven’t experienced elsewhere. Perhaps because of its place in movies and popular culture Monte-Carlo has something of a glamorous mystique about it, but the reality for me was that the price to enjoy the food, culture, bars, or shopping felt inaccessible and as a result lent it a feel of detached indifference. I still took a few photos because yes, it’s beautiful, opulent in places and impressive to see, but it just wasn’t for me - maybe next time.
